Hi, I’m Christine Jiang

I want to be a champion of oral health in my community, and I am passionate about improving the quality of people’s lives.

About Me

I am an incoming dental student, officially enrolling in the Class of 2029 (2025 EY) in Florida (official post/school TBA)! I studied Biochemistry at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated May 2023. I like to spend my free time sport bouldering, volunteering, and doing Pilates. Despite growing up with little, I hope to one day become a champion of oral health for underserved communities and everyone. I am proactively trying to actualize my dreams. Dentistry is my passion! 🙂

Work Experience + Internships

Entry-Level Biomedical Engineer

Jan 2024-June 2024

With industry experience in biomedical engineering, I have gained valuable skills in problem-solving, system design, and technology integration. These experiences will directly apply to my dental studies, where I can leverage my understanding of medical devices, material science, and precision engineering to contribute to advancements in dental technologies and improve patient care. My training in data analysis and regulatory compliance also provides a strong foundation for navigating the evolving field of dentistry.

Dental Billing & Claims Specialist + Insurance Coordinator

Jan 2024-Jan 2025

In this position, I studied policies and certificates to determine dental insurance coverage, becoming fluent in CDT coding. It was my first job in a dental office setting that gave me profound insight into how dentistry is billed in the US, and aimed with this financial knowledge, I hope I can tailor to future patients’ needs.

Toxicology Certifying Scientist

July 2023-Dec 2023

In this role I performed diagnostic and forensic analyses on sample mediums including meconium, hair, and nail samples. I programmed GC-MS and LC-MS and certified and released results to Texas Medical Center (TMC) hospitals. I used LIMS Laboratory Software and Agilent Masshunter and employed analytical chemistry to quantify toxic substances.

BIO 311C PLA/TA – UT Austin

Dec 2019-May 2020

With one semester under my belt, I was proud to be chosen and awarded university credit for this Peer Learning Assistant (PLA) position for Intro Bio 1 at UT Austin, a core class required by all health professional schools. This experience further strengthened my foundation in biology and life sciences, and furthered my confidence in my academics. It also made me realize I love teaching others, something I aim to do when raising oral health awareness.

High School Researcher – Texas A&M at Galveston

May 2017-Aug 2017

I was honored to intern at Texas A&M at Galveston, while in high school, in the marine sciences department where I was later listed as a coauthor for a publication. Here, I got hands-on research experience with bacteria and the microbial world and developed my research skills early. As it just so happens, bacteria play a tremendous role in oral health; this early exposure enabled to have a very applicable foundation into understanding dentistry.
